Ukraine, Russia exchange prisoners over New Year’s Eve
On December 30, Russia and Ukraine exchanged more than 100 prisoners of war, media reported.
The deal was brokered by the United Arab Emirates.
The 189 Ukrainian prisoners released included members of the armed forces and two civilians, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanking the UAE for mediating their release.
The Russian defense minister also said 150 Russian soldiers had been released.
Similar prisoner exchanges have taken place several times over the past three years of the war.
